Bimala Tamang is the Chairperson of Nepal Mahila Ekata Samaj, where she advocates for the rights of landless/ slum-dwelling women. She, herself, lives in the slums of Kathmandu, Ramhiti, and is fighting for the issues of her neighborhood. She is worried about the members of her settlement who mostly relied on daily wages from labor and haven’t been able to earn due to the lockdown. Additionally, she is anxious that if the virus were to reach them, then the transmission rates would be very high and many lives would be at risk. She has been actively participating in the government committee and presenting the needs of her people.
