Corona Stories – Lalita Mahat

Lalita Mahat is a 33 years old mother of one from Mahat village, Jumla. She runs a retail shop to support her son’s education and their livelihoods. When the onset of Covid-19 brought about a nation-wide lockdown, Mahat had to close her shop. With nothing to do, she had a hard time going through days during the lockdown  and the fear of not being able to pay rent and running out of stock of goods in her shop crept in. Thankfully, her neighbor was kind enough to teach her how to knit sweaters. Not only did Mahat get a new hobby to keep her mind from getting anxious but she also found a new way to support her small family.
