Devi Khadka had to suddenly take on the role of ward chief of her ward in the Rukum district in Nepal. Faced with the overwhelming responsibility of fighting the corona virus, Devi could not ignore the social issues that were also highly prevalent in her ward. She believes that the duty of a local government encompasses humanitarian development as well, so keeping her community safe from both health and social evils were both equally important.
