Lunch-Débat CITIM: Indigenous Communities in Modern Society: A Focus on the Adivasis of India

with Special Guest Indian Film-Maker Nilanjan Bhattacharya

Across the world, indigenous people continue to fight battles for basic rights and still lose a lot. They live in marginalisation and struggle to keep their own unique culture alive against the mainstream culture of the country they are in.

We invite you to a lunch debate to discuss the situation of indigenous people around the world. We will focus on the situation in India, and we invite you to add to the discussion with your expertise and knowledge on indigenous people from other parts of the world.

As a special guest, we have invited the Indian documentary filmmaker Nilanjan Bhattacharya who can give us insights on the Adivasi life and show us clips from his movie “Johar – Welcome to our world” – a film about Adivasi food culture – to elaborate these insights.
